Relaxation Massage


Technically known as Swedish Massage therapy, relaxation massage is a gentle massage using specific skills and techniques to stimulate the superficial muscles and relax the nervous system. The motion of the techniques are always rhythmic, towards the heart and, where possible, parrallel to the muscel fibre. The pressure is usually light to moderate but a heavier pressure can be used to reach the deeper structures and treat adhesions depending on your treatment goals. The massage is usually applied in sync with the clients breathing, this helps to decrease the firing of the sympathetic nervous system creating the 'relaxation response'.
